Whether it’s your first time seeing a physio or just your first time with us, it helps to know what you’re walking into. This guide covers where to park, how to get here, what happens when you arrive and what’s around the clinic, so you can turn up relaxed and ready.

Where is the clinic?

You’ll find us at 1342 Pittwater Road, Narrabeen, on the ground floor. We’re right in the heart of Narrabeen, a short walk from both the lagoon and the beach.

Where can I park?

Parking is easy and free. You have a few options:

  • Free street parking on Waterloo Street and Lagoon Street
  • Three free council car parks, all within about 150 metres of the clinic

Time limits vary between spots, so it’s worth a quick look at the signs when you park. Most appointments run for 30 to 45 minutes.

Can I get here by bus?

Yes. There’s a bus stop right out the front of the clinic on Pittwater Road, so public transport is a simple option if you’d rather leave the car at home.

Is the clinic accessible?

The clinic is on the ground floor with wheelchair access. If you have any specific access needs, let us know when you book and we’ll make sure your visit runs smoothly.

What happens when I arrive?

When you walk in, you’ll step straight into our open gym space and reception area. Most of the day, one of our reception team will be at the front desk to welcome you and check you in.

If the desk is unattended, you’ll see an iPad standing on the front desk. Just check yourself in on the screen, take a seat, and your physio will come out to collect you when they’re ready.

You’ll probably notice other patients working through their exercises in the gym. That’s a normal part of how we work. For many people, building strength, confidence and capacity is a big part of recovering well, and the gym is where much of that happens.

How should I prepare for my first appointment?

A little preparation helps you get the most from your first session:

  • Arrive 5 to 10 minutes early so you’re not rushing
  • Wear comfortable clothes you can move in (shorts are handy for knee, hip or ankle problems, and a loose top or singlet for shoulder or neck problems)
  • Bring any relevant scans, reports or letters from your GP or specialist
  • Bring your private health insurance card if you have one, and claim details if your appointment relates to a workers compensation or motor vehicle claim

You don’t need a scan or a GP referral to see a physio privately. Your physiotherapist will help you work out whether any further investigation is actually needed.

What does the first session involve?

Your first appointment is about understanding what’s going on. Your physiotherapist will ask about your symptoms, your history and what you’re hoping to get back to, then assess how you’re moving. From there, they’ll explain what they think is happening, what’s safe to keep doing, and how your rehabilitation plan is likely to look.

Treatment is tailored to you. Depending on your problem, it may include exercise, hands-on treatment, advice on managing your load, or a mix of these.

Remedial massage at Narrabeen

Our Narrabeen clinic is also home to our dedicated remedial massage therapist, who works exclusively from this location. Remedial massage can be booked on its own or alongside your physiotherapy care.

What’s nearby?

One of the best things about visiting Narrabeen is everything on the doorstep. Within a few minutes’ walk you’ll find:

  • Cafes, bars and restaurants along Pittwater Road
  • Narrabeen Lagoon and the Narrabeen Lagoon Trail, popular for walking, running and riding
  • Narrabeen Beach, one of the most loved stretches of sand on the Northern Beaches

Plenty of patients grab a coffee before their appointment or head down to the water afterwards. If you’re unsure how much activity is right for you after a session, just ask your physio.

Why we love Narrabeen

There’s something special about working in Narrabeen. It has a beachy, lively yet laid-back feel, great cafes everywhere you turn, and in summer our team can duck down to the beach on a lunch break. It’s a community that loves being active, and that’s exactly the kind of community we want to help.

Ready to book at Narrabeen?

If something has been holding you back, whether it’s a nagging injury, pain that’s affecting your work or sleep, or a return to sport you’re not sure how to approach, a first appointment is a good place to start. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what’s going on, what’s safe to do, and a plan that fits your life.

You can book online or call the clinic. If Frenchs Forest suits you better, our second clinic offers the same physiotherapy care.
