No. You can book directly with a physiotherapist without a referral. If you’re attending under a GP Management Plan (GPCCMP), WorkCover or another scheme that requires a referral, you’ll need to provide the relevant documentation.
If you’re unsure whether you need a referral for your circumstances, give us a call and we can point you in the right direction.
If you haven’t been to BeachLife before, we recommend booking an initial physiotherapy appointment. Your physiotherapist will assess what’s going on and guide you towards the most appropriate treatment or service from there.
If you’ve been to us before and aren’t sure which appointment to book, give us a call. We’re happy to point you in the right direction before you book.
Same-week appointments are usually available, and same-day appointments come up regularly. Booking online is the fastest way to see what's available, or call us and we'll find something that works.
Yes. If you'd like to see a particular practitioner, you can select them when booking online or let us know when you call. If you're not sure who to see, tell us what's going on and we'll match you to the right person.
Comfortable, loose fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated. Any relevant scans, X-rays, or imaging. Your referral letter if you have one. Your health fund card if you're claiming a rebate on the day.
Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer the appointment to someone else who needs it.
Cancellations or rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice, and missed appointments without notice, incur a fee of 50% of the appointment cost. Please contact us by phone or email if you need to make a change.
Yes. We offer early morning and evening appointments Monday to Friday at both clinics. We’re open from 7am, with appointments available until 7:30pm Monday to Thursday and 6:30pm on Fridays.
We’re also open Saturdays from 7am–2:30pm at Narrabeen and 7am–12pm at Frenchs Forest. We’re closed on Sundays.
Yes, you can book on behalf of a family member. And babies are always welcome. Just let us know when booking that the appointment is for someone else, and include their details.
Initial appointments are 45 minutes, giving us time to take a thorough history, assess the problem and start treatment in the same session. If you have more than one injury or a more complex issue, we may recommend a 60-minute initial appointment.
Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes, with 45 and 60-minute options available when more time is needed.
We start by listening — your history, your symptoms, and what's changed in your daily life because of them. We then do a hands-on physical assessment, explain what we found in plain language, and discuss what we recommend. Most people receive treatment in the first session as well. You'll leave knowing what's going on and what comes next.
Most people receive treatment at their first appointment. We’ll spend time assessing what’s going on and, where appropriate, begin treatment straight away — often including hands-on therapy. The balance between assessment and treatment depends on your individual situation, but we aim to make your first session as useful as possible.
Yes. You’ll be asked to complete and sign a short intake form before your first appointment. We’ll email this to you once your appointment is confirmed. If you don’t complete it beforehand, you can fill it in when you arrive.
The form covers your health history and reason for visiting, giving your physiotherapist the background they need before your session begins.
Something comfortable that allows easy access to the area being treated. Shorts for lower limb, hip or knee issues. A singlet or loose top for shoulder, neck, or upper back. We have shorts available at the clinic if you forget.
Yes. You're welcome to bring a support person — a partner, parent, or friend. Just let us know when you book. Babies and young children are always welcome too.
We have two practices on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Frenchs Forest: Building 8/49 Frenchs Forest Road East — more about Beachlife Frenchs Forest.
Narrabeen: 1342 Pittwater Road — more about Beachlife Narrabeen.
Yes, both locations have plenty of parking.
Frenchs Forest: Car spaces are located in front of the building as well as past the building to the right — park in any space marked Brellah or Movement HQ.
Narrabeen: There's street parking available, as well as three council carparks within a two-minute walk of the clinic.
Yes — both clinics are well served by bus.
Frenchs Forest: We're a short 3–5 minute walk from the local bus stop, near the Skyline shops.
Narrabeen: We're right by the Narrabeen B-Line stop on Pittwater Road, with the B1 running frequently plus a range of other routes passing through — so there's usually a service running close to whenever you need one.
For live timetables and the best route from your specific location, the Transport NSW Trip Planner will give you the most current options for either clinic.
Yes, both clinics are located on the ground floor and have an access door with no steps. Our front entrance to Narrabeen has two small steps, but we can also provide access through the rear of the building when necessary.
Yes. We offer home visits across the Northern Beaches for patients who have difficulty getting to the clinic — whether due to age, mobility, post-surgical recovery, or any other reason. A home visit includes the same comprehensive assessment and treatment as a clinic appointment. Call us to discuss availability and suburbs covered.
Yes. We offer remote video consultations for patients who cannot attend in person. This includes injury history and assessment, diagnosis and management advice, exercise prescription, and follow-up care. All you need is a device with a camera and microphone.
Our fees vary depending on the appointment type, service and length of your session. Private health fund and Medicare rebates may also apply depending on your circumstances.
As we offer a range of services, the easiest way to get an accurate price is to give us a call. We’re happy to explain the fees and any applicable rebates before you book.
Yes. We have on-the-spot HICAPS claiming for most major health funds. The rebate amount depends on your level of cover and the type of appointment. We recommend checking with your fund beforehand if you want to know the exact figure.
In some cases, yes. If your GP has referred you under a Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP, formerly EPC), you may be eligible for Medicare rebates on up to five physiotherapy sessions per calendar year. Ask your GP if this applies to your situation.
Yes. We’re registered to provide physiotherapy services under WorkCover NSW. Please bring your claim number, referral and any relevant documents, such as imaging reports or letters from your GP or specialist.
Yes. We work with NDIS participants under plan-managed and self-managed plans. Get in touch to discuss how we can support your goals and what documentation we'll need from you.
Yes. We accept DVA White and Gold cards. Please let us know when booking so we can confirm the relevant details.
Remedial massage is covered by many health funds when performed by a registered therapist. The level of rebate depends on your fund and your cover. Check with your fund before booking to confirm your entitlements.
We don’t offer concession rates based on age. However, we do have discounted rates through some of our gym and sporting team partnerships.
If you’re a member of a partner gym or sporting team, give us a call and we can check whether a discount is available to you.
It depends on what's going on. Many acute injuries resolve within 4–8 sessions. Chronic or complex conditions may need a longer program. After your first appointment, your physiotherapist will give you a realistic picture of what to expect — including a timeframe that reflects your specific situation.
Our physiotherapists use evidence-based treatments including hands-on therapy, exercise and rehabilitation, dry needling, taping and bracing, orthotics fitting, and education and self-management strategies. We also offer physiotherapist-led group classes and specialised programs.
Your treatment will always be tailored to you, your goals and what you’re managing.
No. You don’t need a scan or X-ray before your first appointment. Most conditions can be assessed through your symptoms and a physical examination. While imaging can be useful, it only provides part of the picture and needs to be considered alongside your symptoms and clinical assessment.
If we think imaging would be helpful, we’ll explain why and arrange an appropriate referral. Don’t let the absence of a scan stop you from booking.
If you’re not improving as expected, we’ll reassess your condition and treatment approach, consider whether further investigation or referral to a specialist is appropriate, and explore other options where needed.
We’re not interested in keeping you coming back for appointments that aren’t working. Our goal is to make sure you’re receiving the right care and making meaningful progress.
Not usually. The aim of physiotherapy is not to cause pain, although some hands-on treatments can cause temporary discomfort, particularly soft tissue work and dry needling. Your physiotherapist will explain what they’re doing and why, and you’re always in control — you can ask them to adjust or stop a treatment at any time.
Some short-term discomfort can be a normal part of treatment, and it’s very common to experience substantial relief and improved movement afterwards. Your physiotherapist will work with you to find an approach that is both effective and comfortable for you.
When performed appropriately, physiotherapy is safe and evidence-based. Some treatments, particularly hands-on therapy or starting a new exercise program, may cause mild, short-term soreness as your body adapts. Your physiotherapist will explain what to expect and monitor your response to treatment.
If soreness lasts longer than a day or two, or your symptoms are more aggravated than expected, let your physiotherapist know. We’ll reassess and adjust our approach to make sure your treatment is appropriate for you.
Yes. We believe the best outcomes often come from good communication and collaboration. Where appropriate, we’ll work with your GP, specialist, surgeon or other allied health providers to make sure everyone is working towards the same goals. If you have relevant referral letters, imaging or previous treatment notes, bring them to your first appointment.
No — but you do need to complete an initial assessment before your first class or program session. This is how we make sure the program is appropriate for you and that we understand your starting point.
A 45-minute one-on-one session with one of our physiotherapists before you join a class or program. It covers your health and injury history, movement screening, goal setting, and program suitability. It's how we make sure we're building your program around you specifically.
Move Well is open to most people — it's supervised exercise focused on general recovery, strength, and mobility. Specialty Programs (Hip & Knee OA, Lower Back, Shoulder (Rotator Cuff), Osteoporosis) are condition-specific and more structured, designed for people managing a particular diagnosis. Your physiotherapist can advise which is right for your situation.
Move Well group classes have a maximum of 4 participants. This keeps the sessions supervised and allows your physiotherapist to adapt the session to each person on the day.
Yes. Many patients transition from 1:1 physiotherapy into our group classes or programs as part of their recovery. We’ll guide you on when the timing is right.
Our classes are a great way to build strength, mobility, balance and overall physical resilience, helping you stay active and reduce your risk of future injury.
Yes. Private health fund rebates are available for our physiotherapist-led group exercise classes if your policy includes Extras cover. Hospital-only cover does not include physiotherapy rebates.
Your rebate depends on your health fund, level of cover and annual limits. If you’re unsure what you’re covered for, check with your health fund before your appointment.
Life happens — if you need to miss a class, just let us know and we’ll help you rebook another session. Wherever possible, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice, in line with our 24-hour cancellation policy, so we can offer your spot to someone else.
Remedial massage is treatment-focused — it targets specific areas of muscular pain, tension, or injury. Relaxation massage is about general wellbeing and stress-relief, with no clinical agenda. If you have a specific issue you want address, book remedial. If you just want to unwind, book relaxation. Not sure? Give us a call.
No, you can book any massage service directly, without a referral.
Yes, for most funds. Remedial massage performed by a registered therapist is covered by many private health funds. The rebate depends on your level of cover. Check with your fund before booking if you want to confirm your entitlements.
Sessions are available in 30, 45, 60, and 90-minute formats. We typically suggest 45-60 minutes, but can advise on the right length for what you're looking to address.
It depends entirely on why you're coming. For specific muscular issues, your therapist will advise on frequency as part of your treatment. For general maintenance and wellbeing, most people find monthly sessions beneficial — though there's no single right answer.
No. You can book directly with a Women’s Health Physiotherapist without a referral. If you’re attending under a GP Management Plan or need a referral for an insurance rebate, bring this with you.
If you have relevant imaging, letters from your GP or specialist, or blood test results, bring these along too. They can help your physiotherapist understand the bigger picture and tailor your care.
An internal pelvic floor assessment can help your physiotherapist assess the strength, coordination, tone and function of your pelvic floor muscles. However, an internal assessment is not always necessary. It is only performed with your full understanding and explicit consent, and you can stop at any time. If you’re uncomfortable with an internal assessment, your physiotherapist can use alternative external assessment and treatment techniques to understand your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Around 6 weeks postpartum is a common guide — or earlier if you're experiencing symptoms like leakage, pain, or pressure. If you're unsure, call us and we'll help you decide. Many women wait much longer than they should simply because they don't know that physiotherapy can help.
No. Leakage is common after birth but it's not something you have to live with. With the right pelvic floor rehabilitation it's highly treatable — often significantly improved or fully resolved within a few weeks of targeted treatment.
Absolutely. Babies are always welcome.
Yes. Menopause brings significant changes to pelvic floor function, bladder, and bowel behaviour, bone density, and strength. We offer both hands-on treatment and individualised exercise programs to support your health and wellbeing through this stage of life.
Yes. Pelvic floor strengthening, education, load management strategies, and pessary support (in collaboration with your GP or specialist) are all within scope of Women's Health Physiotherapy. We'll assess your specific situation and discuss what's appropriate.
Yes. Pelvic pain conditions including vaginismus, vulvodynia, and dyspareunia (pain during or after intercourse) are treated by our Women's Health Physiotherapists using pelvic floor relaxation techniques and desensitisation approaches. These are sensitive topics we handle with care and discretion.
We primarily see school-aged children and teenagers, although there’s no strict minimum age. If you’re concerned about your child’s movement, strength, pain or sporting ability, it’s worth having them assessed. If we feel your child would be better suited to a paediatric physiotherapist with more specialised experience, we’ll point you in the right direction.
Sever’s disease is a common cause of heel pain in active children, particularly during periods of rapid growth. We can help reduce pain, modify activity and safely build back to full sport.
We also stock and fit custom Solemaids insoles at both clinics, which are designed to reduce the load on the heel while allowing children to stay as active as possible during their growing years.
Not necessarily. It depends on the nature and severity of the injury. Wherever possible, we aim to keep children active and involved in their sport while modifying activities to allow them to recover safely. We’ll advise you on what they can continue, what may need to be modified and when they can return to full sport.
We work with teenagers regularly and understand that a clinical environment can feel uncomfortable. Our practitioners are straightforward, don't talk down to young people, and focus on practical goals — like getting back to sport — rather than making the appointment feel intimidating. Many teenagers leave their first session far more relaxed than they expected. Parents are always welcome to join.
For younger children, we generally encourage a parent or carer to stay in the room, particularly during their first appointment. For teenagers, we follow their lead — some feel more comfortable with a parent present, while others prefer some privacy. We’ll discuss this with them at the start of the appointment and make sure everyone is comfortable with the arrangement.
Yes. Poor posture in teenagers can be influenced by things like screen time, heavy school bags and growth spurts. We assess how they move and provide practical strategies and exercises to help.
It’s particularly worth addressing when postural issues are associated with ongoing neck or back pain.
Yes — and for more older adults it's one of the most valuable health investments they can make. We adjust the approach completely to the individual, working at a pace that's appropriate and safe. There are no assumptions about what you should and shouldn't be able to do at any age.
Yes. We assess balance, strength, mobility and functional movement, then develop a personalised program to improve stability, confidence and reduce the risk of future falls.
We also offer an Osteoporosis Program to improve strength, support bone health and reduce the risk of falls and fractures.
Yes. We offer home visits across the Northern Beaches for patients who have difficulty getting to the clinic. A home visit includes the same comprehensive assessment and treatment as a clinic appointment — just in your own space, with no travel required.
There may be a travel component to the fee depending on your location. Call us and we'll give you a clear picture of the cost for your situation before committing.
Yes. We work with NDIS participants under plan-managed and self-managed plans, including for home visit services. Get in touch to discuss your plan and what we'll need from you.
It's very common, particularly for older adults who associate physiotherapy with pain or effort. A home visit is often a much more comfortable first step — familiar surroundings, no travel, and a one-on-one session in their own space. It frequently makes a significant difference to how comfortable someone feels about ongoing care.
No. You don’t need to be injured to see a physiotherapist. Many people book for movement and strength screening, injury prevention or performance optimisation. If you have a history of recurring injuries, regular “tune-up” sessions can also help address stiffness and small issues before they become bigger ones.
A running assessment analyses your gait, loading patterns, cadence, and movement mechanics to identify what might be causing injury or limiting your performance. If you're a runner dealing with recurring issues — shin pain, knee pain, hip pain — or just want to run more efficiently, it's well worth the investment. You don't need to be currently injured to benefit.
Our running assessments take 45 minutes — enough time to properly assess, discuss findings, and give you practical guidance to take away so that you can improve your running efficiency and performance right away.
Yes. Movement screening, prehabilitation, and load management advice are all part of what we do. We'd rather help you avoid injury in the first place than see you after one. We utilise VALD performance testing equipment to objectively identify the areas you need to improve on to minimise your risk of injury. If you're not assessing, you're guessing!
Yes. Remedial massage and sports massage are available as standalone bookings — no physiotherapy appointment required. Our remedial massage therapist works out of our Narrabeen location. Additionally our physiotherapists provide massage and hands on treatment sessions called Massage & Maintenance.
Yes, post-surgical return-to-sport rehabilitation is a core part of our work. We follow evidence-based protocols, communicate with your surgical team, and won't rush you back before your body is ready. We utilised return to sport testing protocols to make sure you're ready to meet the the demands of your sports!
Yes, if you know exactly what you need, you can book a quick appointment just for taping or bracing, without a full assessment. Great for race day, training, or before a game.
No, patients can self-refer. However, a referral letter helps us understand clinical context and allows us to communicate findings back to you appropriately. It's not a barrier to access but it improves coordination of care.
We provide an initial assessment summary and treatment plan on request. For patients on Medicare Plans (GPCCMP) or other coordinated care arrangements, we touch base with you at the beginning and end of the plan, and at other relavent stages if needed. Let us know your preferred method of communication.
Yes. We accept Medicare referral under GPCCMP arrangements. Include the relevant item number and confirm the patient's eligibility for up to five sessions per calendar year.
Yes, we are registered under WorkCover NSW. Include the claim number and any specific treatment requirements with the referral.
Yes. We work with participants under plan-managed and self-managed plans. We are are not set up for agency-managed (NDIA) plans. Contact us to discuss the requirements for your specific plan (or your patient's plan if you are a referrer).
Yes. If you are a GP, medical specialist, personal trainer or coach, and you'd like a patient to see a particular practitioner by name or specialty, note this in your referral letter and we'll do our best to accommodate.
We aim to see referred patients within the week. If the situation is urgent, call us directly and we'll do our best to accommodate a same-week appointment.
Both practices offer the full range of physiotherapy services, so you'll get the same standard of care wherever you visit. The two main differences are:
Some of our physiotherapists work across both clinics. If you move between locations your treatment plan and clinical notes carry across seamlessly.
For most services, appointments are available within the week. Some specific practitioners or specialty services may have a short wait — call us and we'll give you an honest picture of availability.
We ask for 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer the appointment to someone else who needs it.
Cancellations or rescheduling with less than 24 hours’ notice, and missed appointments without notice, incur a fee of 50% of the appointment cost. Please contact us by phone or email if you need to make a change.
We'd love that. Google reviews are the most useful — you can find both our locations on Google Maps. Honest feedback from real patients makes a genuine difference to how people find us and decide to book.
Yes — we're always welcoming new patients at both Narrabeen and Frenchs Forest. Book online or call us to get started.
Give us a call — we're always happy to help.
